Work starts on the Visit Mallorca Estadi

Phase one of our redevelopment started with the construction of the tribuna sol

The redevelopment work on the Visit Mallorca Estadi is now underway as we begin with the remodelling and construction of a new tribuna sol stand.

The first phase of the refurbishment project will require three and a half months and is expected to be completed in time for the start of the 2022-2023 season.

This first phase will include the remodelling and construction of the tribuna sol, and will increase the capacity to 10,000 fans and include a new roof.

The distance from the stands to the pitch will be reduced to just eight-and-a-half meters, while new seats will also be installed and a rainwater collection system will be implemented for the daily watering of the grass in the grandstand.

The accessibility of this area of the stadium will also be improved, with thirty seats for people with special needs and mobility difficulties being constructed.

Phase one got underway with CEO of Business Alfonso Díaz, the project manager and architect Izaskun Larzabal, and the highest representatives of the island's public institutions. Francina Armengol, President of the Government; Catalina Cladera, President of the Consell de Mallorca; and José Hila, Mayor of Palma, in attendance.

"This is a step forward; it means looking to the future. The ownership group have once again demonstrated this is an unquestionable long-term commitment to both the club and the city.

“It is a responsible project for both the club and the city, because we want RCD Mallorca to celebrate another 100 years. We want the stadium to be an open space, with life 365 days a year".

"The idea is to create a roof that gives a weightless sensation, that provides shelter from the rain or the sun, but that draws a modern silhouette that gives character to the stadium,” said Larzabal.

The public officials of the main institutions of the islands were pleased that the project will allow the new stadium to be a space open to the city of Palma, where all kinds of activities and initiatives can be held.
