Vicente Moreno: ‘There’s not always joy in football, we have to move forwards’

The manager spoke to the media following our relegation from La Liga having been defeated by Granada CF

Vicente Moreno spoke to journalists after we were relegated to the Segunda División as a result of a 2-1 loss to Granada CF. The boss faced up to discuss the performance, his feelings and what the future holds for the club:

On the game...

"The game has a trace of what the season has been like. We have had a good game that we could even have won, but in the end there have been mistakes in one area and the opposition has won the match. On top of that, we haven't had any luck in various moments. The feeling has been that on merit, we have deserved more but we have not been able to achieve it.

"It's hard. It's very complicated which words to use. The guys have left everything out there and put everything in for the team. They've left their lives out there trying. Life goes on. You don't have to stop here, you have to think about the following challenges of tomorrow.

On the relegation...

"I can only apologise to: all the people behind me who have worked to reach the goal, the players for not being able to find that goal because they have believed in us, to the whole family that forms RCD Mallorca, to all the workers who wear the emblem and, above all, to the fans who have believed in us. We haven't been able to give them what they deserve.

"From the first minute, from Segunda B, to the Segunda División and now La Liga, we have felt the affection of the people. Our fans have lived through many things and they see that those we’ve given it our all. When you leave everything out there and more, people usually thank you and value that. The line between getting one thing or another is very narrow. That's the way it has been since Segunda B and Segunda División. Everything we had to do to get here has been very difficult. We've deserved more, but the reality is that.

"We must go on. Tomorrow we'll train and go with all that excitement until the very last day. We have to pull forward. Football is not always joy. RCD Mallorca is a great team and will be a powerful team in Second Division for everything that has been done so far."
