Vicente Moreno: "The result is what it is, but we've been the better side'

The manager spoke to journalists in a post-match conference about the performance, future fixtures and Luka Romero

Vicente Moreno spoke to journalists via video conference call following the 1-0 defeat at CF Villarreal. While our first game back from the break away from home ended in defeat, the manager discussed our performance, upcoming fixtures and rotating his squad.

On the game…

"I don't usually talk about justice because the result is what it is but we've been better in both halves. This is what happens when you're in the situation we're in. You go a lot, but nothing has come of the final result. Today we’ve done everything. There are doses of luck, our quality and that of the rival. We work hard on finishing, but it’s a matter of insisting. At the end we must wait more. We have deserved much more, but not only today.”

On Friday’s fixture…

“Friday's game is an important fixture for both of us. The fact you’ve not added points today leaves you with less of margin. They are a direct rival, but if we win we’ll have accomplished nothing. If we don't win, it will be much more complicated. The reality is that we haven't added points to think of Leganés. Not winning here makes things tighter. If we continue in this manner, we’ll have more chances to win matches.”

On the inclusion of 15-year-old Luka Romero and rotation…

"If you don't believe, you don't have the game you want to have on the day. Players believe in options. We're one point away. The difference is minimal. We've got to hold on to that. If we play like we did today, we are likely to have more success in reaching the result we want. We’re very clear about the circumstances. We'd like to be better, as the team has done during the year. The situation is what it is and we must be calm. We're hurt, but remain calm and trust the work we've been doing. You have to go on and have to be very clear.

"The game wasn't there for us to make the decision to play Luka. We have to leave him be. He's 15 years old, we have to be careful. If the time comes, it's because he deserves it and we think he'll help us. Today he has been called-up and in the the next few matches we will see.”
