Vicente Moreno couldn’t hide his happiness as RCD Mallorca ended their winless run of three games to record a vital three points with a 2-0 defeat of RCD Espanyol. Goals from Ante Budimir and Salva Sevilla were the difference at Son Moix and the manager had this to say at his post-match press conference.
On the game...
“Fair or not fair, the case is that I beleive we have worked for it, we have searched for it and we have got it. Other days we have definitely been searching for it, definitely we have been been deserviing of it and we have not go it. Three points gives us air and a certain tranquility ahead of this 15-day break in order to work and compete for the next game and we will try to add more points. Every game is an opportunity to add points and and we will try take advantage of it, because it is complicated.
“It’s important to see that sacrifice has been rewarded and not everything goes against us. Keeping a clean sheet and scoring two goals in a game gives you the possibility of adding three points.’”
On the defence...
“We have to assess Fran Gamez’s predisposition of playing in that position. He has taken advantage of his opportunity and because of this he has played. It’s a little reflection of where we have to look at everything. Raillo is a very important player, his a player of quality and in the team like ours he gives us more. It’s difficult to know how he is. Normally it’s worse than it is appears. If he has asked to be changed perhaps it was because he held out too long.
On looking ahead to Real Madrid…
We are excited and will enjoy a competitive game and try to win. We will not be the first opposition to have one against them. They are always good and it’s difficult but we have to try and we will have our chances.”
