Vazquez: “we need to beat Rayo and that will boost our confidence”

The Galician warns of an open game, a "high voltage" one

Fernando Vazquez has met the press ahead of the trip to Rayo Vallecano and has emphasized that the team travel to the capital with lots of enhusiasm after "winning the first official game and we face a team with the same goals like us. It will be a good game, a high voltage one, and open. We will try the same ideas as in the previous ones. There will be lots of counterattacks and interceptions."

The manager said in this sense that winning is "very important for the group dynamics. A victory leads to another one - we need to win. I would like to see the team play well and hopefully that comes together with a victory. Triumphs boost your confidence, your spirit, and with some more of that you perform better, you work with greater enthusiasm".

The Galician did not want to ponder the latest rumours that have been published about the Madrid side, "I do not speak about internal affairs of my own team, let alone of others. Rayo have started with the wrong foot, but they have just won their previous game and are candidates for promotion. They have a great coach and an amazing squad. They finish at the top - no doubt about that".

Finally, Vazquez commented about how concerned he is about Lekic's injury, "it is a setback that diminishes the possibilities of the team. Now we are more homogeneous with less tactical variations. We expect lots from him, but we are gonna have to wait 6 to 7 weeks to see him back in action". Vazquez could not shed light on where both Juan Rodriguez and Company are travelling for the game as they await a late fitnesss check "after the training session", although he pointed out that the right back is more likely to feature than the centrehalf.
