Vazquez: “very pleased to go through with a clean sheet”

The manager emphasizes the great participation of players with fewer minutes.

Fernando Vazquez has met the press after the Cup victory against Reus in round 2. He has underlined how pleased he is to go through with a clean sheet because “finally Mallorca overcome this obstacle for the first time in years, with a clean sheet and even sharing minutes in the squad. We have reached our goal here”.

The manager in this sense admitted that some things, small details, were not to be liked, “I will sit and analyse the game of today in the next few days as we lacked pace in some passages  and did not enjoy a good record in pass precission”.

The Galician also recognized that the team has an issue with goals, but he assured that they are not obsessed with it “we have to improve in this aspect although it is also true that we concede very few goals”. Vazquez commented on the sensation that his team were above the rival, “we felt strong with lines sticking together. In fact, their chances were after we missed some passes. We have to learn better about defensive display in the final minutes when on advantage. We will insist that aspect in the training sessions”.

Lastly, the manager stated that the “Cup is a stimulus. The victory is positive, no doubt about that, it is an opportunity for those who play less. To go through allows us to play more games in the season and keep all the squad at the competitive level.”
