Fernando Vazquez has greeted and talked to the press ahead of the UCAM Murcia game expected for Sunday at the Iberostar Estadio in a very compressed schedule of games. This makes it practically impossible for players to recover properly from all the effort. “We played Tenerife and spent 2 whole days travelling pretty much whereas UCAM played on Wednesday and have more days of rest. It is not a timetabling issue, it is rather an appeal to respect the rest of players I deem. If you don’t rest properly, that affects the players’ performance and thereby the show for the spectators.”
The manager announced that Juan Rodriguez will not be be passed fit for tomorrow’s game. The manager conceded that the team underperformed last night in Tenerife, yet he did not specify the reasons why, “we have to look forward not backwards”.
When asked about the mistakes in front of goal, like Brandon’s in the last game, the Galician assured that “there is not learning without prior mistakes. Let’s not bring us down. A mistake can be positive if you learn from it, to mature and become a better all-rounded player”.
Vazquez pointed out that neither he nor the team has doubts on the strategy used, “often the result is not something you can control. The team’s focused and trust their capabilities. If we win we will have gained seven points out of nine in a busy week at the office – that’s not too bad – and would mean a huge leap in the table. We gotta play clam and ordered. Finally, he said he’s not fuzzed by the defensive solidity of the team “we worked for that. This is what we were expecting. We have only conceded three goals in six games. This is where we are meeting our target”. I trust in an attacking improvement, “I believe I have dynamite upfront, let’s wait because this week things will look better I’m sure”.
