Salomao: "the important thing now is to implement the coach´s ideas and adapt to the group"

The winger assured that the team has improved from the hardships of the preseason

Diogo Salomao met with us after the game against Willem II and showed his satisfaction with the team´s display, even in defeat, “I believe that we played well and very competitively.  We played against an intense team who was about to start the season and they pushed back on every attacking attempt we made. We may have lost, but I believe that the result is insignificant now. The important thing is that we were able to practice the coach´s tactics and adapt to the new players´ style of play.”

The winger did note less of a physical difference between themselves and the opponent, which he justified by the group understanding each other more, “we are bringing in what the coach wants. We are like well-oiled machine. Little by little we are improving this and those feelings are also improving.”

The Portuguese player did mention the intense “demand” of the preseason and that the team is still working hard. Accordingly, in his opinion, the team´s physical form did impact the game, “the legs are tired and we noted that a bit in our defense.” Additionally, he hoped that the team, with all that had occurred, will continue scoring goals, “it is a subject that we are working on and today we did it well.”

Finally, he confessed that just like the rest of group, he is excited to get home, “there is excitement to end the tour. Tomorrow we will play the last game and we would like to finish as best as possible. Ideally with a victory, it will be good for the team´s morale.”
