We’re delighted to announce the signing of winger Murilo de Souza (São José do Norte, Brazil, 1994) on a one-year loan from Portuguese side Sporting de Braga with an option to buy come the end of the season.
The 25-year-old arrives at the Visit Mallorca Estadi following an impressive loan spell at Segunda División side Sporting Gijón and has previously featured in his native Brazil for Caxias, Internacional, Botafogo, Macaé, Lajeadense, Joinville and Juventude in addition to Portugese sides Nacional and Sporting de Braga.
Murilo first arrived in Europe in 2018 where he scored three goals in 18 appearances for his parent club before later joining Sporting Gijón the following season in the January transfer window after 11 games in the Primeira Liga. Hitting the target twice and creating three goals across 12 games in Asturias, the winger underlined his ability going forward, quick feet and eye for goal.
“I’m very happy to arrive at a club with so much history and to an island so beautiful,” he told the club’s website. “It’s a huge opportunity for me. The Segunda División is a division that I know well. I know all the clubs and the style of football in Spain. I arrive motivated to achieve our goals and get RCD Mallorca to where it deserves to be.”
