RCD Mallorca B came from a goal behind to draw 1-1 in a top of the table clash with league leaders U.D Poblense at Ciudad Deportiva Antonio Asensio.
Julián Robles made three changes to his side following last week’s goalless draw at CD Llosetense, opting for Adrían Montalban, Carlos Gilbert, Raul Parra in favour of Roberto Alarcon, David Álamo and Dani Ribelles.
The sole opportunity of the opening exchanges fell to Jaume Tovar, although the 21-year-old was unable to get his effort from the edge of the box on target.
The centre forward came close again in the 20th minute, this time rolling his marker and racing into the available space before dragging his shot just wide of the post.
Poblense took the lead with their first shot on target moments before the break through Tia Sastre’s follow up on a loose ball in the box, forcing us to re-group at half-time.
Tovar eventually punished the opposition for the space they were affording him shortly after the restart, levelling the scores with a finish that crept in off the far post.
Half the ground thought capitan Andreu Hernández’s curled free-kick on the edge of the box just after the hour mark had given us the lead, but a finger-tip save from Kevin managed to push it just over the bar.
Despite the heavy pressure Robles’ side were exerting, our visitors gave us a reminder of their potency on the counter-attack as Mateu Ferrer managed to get a toe on a deep cross which looped over Jesus’ goal by a matter of inches.
The remaining minutes heralded few chances for either team as the points were ultimately shared in front of a host of senior stars in attendance at Ciudad Deportiva Antonio Asensio including the likes of Salva Sevilla, Iddrisu Baba and Lumor.
