RCD Mallorca B continue unbeaten run with 3-1 defeat of title rivals Formenterra

Jaume Tovar, Joaquin Rodríguez and Andreu Arasa were on target to secure an important victory at Son Bibiloni

Goals from Jaume Tovar, Joaquin Rodríguez and Andreu Arasa assured an importante 3-1 win over title rivals Formenterra and the continuation of their unbeaten start to the season.

Los Bermellones hit the ground running as after six minutes Tovar converted Thomas Giaquinto’s cross with the composure of a striker who had now scored six goals in seven games.

The one-goal advantage became two just eight minutes later as Joaquin’s whipped free-kick from outside the box took a deflection off one of the crowded number of bodies blocking goalkeeper Jorge Rives’ vision to find the bottom corner.

The visitors managed to pull a goal back moments before the break as Gonzalez was unlucky to register an own goal following a missed penalty from Omar Alvarez in the same passage of play.

Substitute Andreu Arasa put the game beyond doubt with a spectacular solo effort, ghosting past defenders with some neat footwork before placing the ball past the outstretched Rives.

However, despite their dominance of possession, RCD Mallorca B finished the game with 10 men as Giaquinto received his marching orders for a second bookable offence minutes from the final whistle.
