RCD Mallorca B continue fine form with 3-0 win over SD Portmany

Carlos Gilbert's brace and Jesus Ocana’s first-half strike gave Los Bermellones all three points at Ciudad Deportiva Antonio Asensio

Carlos Gilbert's brace and Jesus Ocana’s first-half strike handed RCD Mallorca B a comfortable 3-0 win over SD Portmany at Ciudad Deportiva Antonio Asensio.

Julián Robles made three changes to the side that had beaten SD Formentera on the prior matchday, swapping Raul Parra, Fran Gonzalez and Jaime De Las Marinas Gil for Alberto Redondo, Jose Gaya and Oscar Coll.

A bout of early pressure paid off after 14 minutes when Jesus Ocaña ghosted in at the back post to scramble a loose ball home from a few yards out.

Carlos Gilbert doubled our advantage just before the half-hour mark when the midfielder’s low effort took a slight deflection and crept into the bottom corner following an earlier chance for Thomas Giaquinto.

The visitors would have pulled a goal back on the 43rd minute had it not been for some fine defending from Andreu Hernández, who first blacked ??’s on the goal line before heading away a follow-up attempt.

Chances were few and far between following the restart, and despite having a goal ruled out for offside just two minutes earlier, Gilbert could make no mistake from a few yards out on the 66th minute after some clever play carved open the SD Portmany defence.

We held onto our lead by dominating possession in midfield to extend our run of consecutive victories to three games.
