Pre-season match report: RCD Mallorca 2-1 UD Ibiza

Jordi Mboula and Lago Junior’s second-half strikes see us come back from a goal behind

Jordi Mboula and Lago Junior’s eight-minute double salvo saw us come back from a goal behind to beat UD Ibiza 2-1 and make it three wins from as many games as our pre-season preparations continues.

Luis García Plaza continued to rotate his side but did give starts to academy prospects Jaume Tovar and Leo Román.

The opening exchanges saw Aleksandar Sedlar come close to giving us an early lead, although the Serbian fired wide having latched onto Antonio Raíllo’s pass.

Our Balearic neighbours responded in the 27th minute and took the lead through took Ángel Rodado courtesy of a long-distance strike which caught Leo Román off guard.

Joan Sastre and Salva Sevilla were unlucky not to level the scoreline before the break as we headed into the changing rooms a goal down.

The second half saw Jaume Costa make his debut following his signing, while Pablo Gálvez made his first appearance for the senior side as we looked to shake things up with a number of changes.

It didn’t take long for the academy star to have an impact as following a lovely piece of individual play from Aleix Febas, Pablo Gálvez teed up Jordi Mboula to equalise in the 53rd minute.

We completed our comeback eight minutes later as Lago Junior found himself with enough time and space to beat the opposing goalkeeper.

The much anticipated debut of Ángel Rodríguez came was the final noteworthy moment as we remained in control of possession and managed to hold onto our lead come full time.
