Julio Pleguezuelo has been presented this afternoon as a new RCD Mallorca player and has admitted that coming back to the island where he was born “is very special for him. I’m very pleased because it’s a very beautiful Project. I want to help the group, and if we’re lucky, be promoted to La Liga, that is the aim of the group”.
The centre-back has promised to “spare no effort” and has guaranteed journalists, after the questions round-up, that one of his main strengths is to build team-play from the back, as opposed to clearing the ball from defence into attacking lines. “I come from the Academies of Barcelona and Arsenal which are characterized by the good passing of the ball and always trying to build team-play from the back. In addition, he stressed he is fit to play and that he is thereby available for selection “whenever the manager deems it necessary, but I actually want to start playing right away”.
Last but not least, Pleguezuelo, reiterated the satisfaction for coming back to “where he was born and to the club where his brother played” and for the warm welcome that the group have offered him. “They are helping me adapt very quickly. I cannot say anything but a massive thank-you to everyone at the club for the receiving me with open arms and for placing their trust in me. I hope this will be a special year”.
Maheta Molango, on the other hand, also showed his delight with the new addition to the squad and for his Majorcan origin. “It is important to have in the squad players from here, from the island; we are bringing in local talent. We were looking for a balance between players with experience-strong character and younger talented players”. In this sense, Molango highlighted the team’s lack of a profile like that of Pleguezuelo’s with “good movement of the ball from the back, speed and vision of the game”.
The Chief Executive of the club finally, expressed his gratitude to Arsenal for relying on Real Mallorca for giving on loan one of their highest bets for the future. “It is something to be proud of that teams of this calibre lay their trust on us and that they bet on us for sending us this great player on loan”, he declared.
