Pablo Ortells and Alfonso Díaz assess the transfer window

Our sporting director and CEO of business reviewed our January business

Sporting director Pablo Ortells and the CEO of Business Alfonso Díaz were on press conference duties as they assessed our January transfer window.

Dennis Hadzikadunic, Ludwig Augustinsson, Manu Morlanes and Daniel Luna were all acquired during a busy start to the year.

"We are very happy,” said Ortells. “We come out stronger after this market. The assessment is positive, but we have to continue with humility and work. We have to keep fighting in every game to achieve the objectives we have.

“Manu Morlanes is a very young player, with a great future. We are very happy with his incorporation. "Daniel Luna is very young, with a lot ahead of him. We have got him on good conditions and he arrives on loan with an option to buy. He will come into the academy side but with the aim of reaching the first team.”

"We are in the process of growing little by little as a club,” added Díaz. “We are in a good situation and we are taking steps forward to be able to access better and better options for players. Pablo is doing a great job of finding the best options for players at the best price."

With several players also heading towards the end of their contracts, Ortells also provided an update on where things stand as to renewals for our stars – including the manager, Javier Aguirre.

“Jaume Costa is happy at Mallorca and we are very happy with him. There is a lot of trust and a relationship with him".

"The paths of Antonio Raíllo and RCD Mallorca have to go hand in hand. For me it would be a great satisfaction to have him for many more years".

"I still think Javier Aguirre is the right coach. We are very happy with him and I think he is with us. We are initiating conversations so that we can find solutions so that we are all comfortable."

With work still underway on our stadium redevelopment, Díaz provided an update on the state-of-the-art work which is being implemented.

"We are starting a little late in the second phase, but we are doing a good job. The idea is to be on time for this phase to be finished when next season starts. We are also already planning phase three. RCD Mallorca is going to have a high-level stadium that is going to be a reference in Europe for everything we are going to offer."

With a number of VAR decisions going against teams this season, Díaz also shared his thoughts on the technology.

"it is true that there are mistakes, sometimes on one side and sometimes on the other. The VAR has to protect and preserve the safety of the players. We have to be focused and depend on the referee as little as possible.”
