Morlanes, Aguirre, Gio and Lato analyse the defeat to Real Betis

Find out what the trio and the boss had to say about the loss

Manu Morlanes, Javier Aguirre, Gio Gonzalez and Toni Lato were on post-match media duties after our 1-0 defeat to Real Betis. Find out what the trio and the boss had to say about the result:

Manu Morlanes

"It's difficult to make an assessment after a defeat. I think the team has been pretty good, we have created favourable situations in the final third and what we have been missing is that last pass to finish in goal. We are hurt, because in the end it was a game we were really looking forward to.”

"We know how tough a club like Betis is, who have great players. It's true that we were looking forward to getting the three points. It's time to be self-critical and focus on the league, which in the end is what gives us year after year that stability as a project."

"We are going to one of the most difficult stadiums in the league, but this team has shown that we are strong in the worst scenarios and today should not be a day to make a drama out of everything."

Javier Aguirre

"A very even match, in which we never lost face. It was a match that was decided by a mistake, from a play where we crossed, stopped and in a quick counterattack we conceded a goal. I think our team was good, we had more time with the ball, we had more shots in the opponent's area, more crosses... but today was not the day, as we saw."

"The goal was missing, as for the rest, I can't reproach my players for anything."

"I don't know how he is. I saw him at halftime and he was in a bad way. He had a knee and adductor problem."

"Every week is a challenge. The team is dropping points. It's the second defeat at home, but well, I'm not complaining about my players today."

Gio Gonzalez

"They shoot once on goal and score. We tried for 90 minutes. It wasn't possible. We lacked to be more effective in the opponent's area, but well, we will try to improve and correct those mistakes."

"It's not the first game this has happened to us. We made mistakes against any team, but we need to read the matches better and be effective when we have to be, especially offensively speaking.”

"Analysing the match you are left with the bitter taste that if such and such a ball had gone in or if theirs hadn't gone in... well, this is already in the past for us."

Toni Lato

"It was a very even match where they practically only had the chance to score a goal. As I said, it was a very even match, with no big chances, and we even had a few more than them."

"I think we had more chances than them. They were more effective in the area. We have to keep improving things.""We've played a lot of matches in a row and I think these next few days will be good for us to catch our breath."
