Match Report: RCD Mallorca Juvenil A 1-0 Girona CF

Pablo Moya’s 29th minute strike is the difference in the round of 16 as our academy stars qualify for the Copa del Rey

RCD Mallorca Juvenil A have qualified for the Copa del Rey for the first time in five years with a 1-0 win against Girona CF.

The result means Carlos Muñoz's team have finished fourth this year and earned a spot in Spain’s most iconic knockout tournament.

Only three points would have been suffice heading into the game following earlier results elsewhere, and we found the breakthrough in the 29th minute courtesy of Moya when he connected with Pau Vila’s cross.

It was a case of so far so good come the break as we headed into the half-time with a slender lead, but looking the stronger side.

Girona FC never looked like troubling in the second half as we moved the ball well and held onto possession.

We still looked to further the distance in the scoreline from the visitors, but we were unable to double our advantage despite our best efforts as 2022 got off to the best start for our young stars.
