Match Report: RCD Mallorca B 1-0 Llosetense

Pablo Gálvez scored the only goal of the game in the first half to secure all three points

Pablo Gálvez’s 17th minute strike saw us beat Llosetense 1-0 at the Ciutat Esportiva Antonio Asensio.

Our youth side looked to bounce back from a defeat to Santanyí a fortnight ago having returned to action following a break in the footballing calendar.

The visitors’ deep defensive line encouraged us to take the initiative from the offset and our early pressure was rewarded in the 17th minute when Javier Albín’s high press resulted in Gálvez capitalising on the turnover in possession with his first goal of the season.

Despite the setback to their game plan, Llosetense continued to sit deep and hit us on the counter with ex-mallorquinista James Davis leading the line.

Chances were few and far between as we struggled to break down the opposition’s back five and headed into the break with a slender advantage.

Little changed after the restart, although the visitors’ hand was soon forced to launch the offensive as time ebbed away requiring Pere Joan to make a smart stop to deny a close-range effort following James’ cross.

We were a matter of inches away from surrendering to a late equaliser as the visitors’ goalkeeper joined for one final attack at a corner and managed to rise highest to force Joan into palming away on the goal line.

We breathed a sigh of relief at the final whistle as all three points remained at the Ciutat Esportiva Antonio Asensio.
