Our return to La Liga saw us register a point against Real Betis as we were held to a 1-1 draw at the Visit Mallorca Estadi.
Luis García Plaza named familiar starting XI to the one which secured promotion last season while Pablo Maffeo and Ángel made their first competitive starts following their summer arrivals.
The opening exchanges were cagey as both sides looked to settle into the their rhythm, although we boasted the majority of possession without creating in the final third.
Jordi Mboula came close to opening the scoring in the 22nd minute, although having raced in behind the visitors’ defence, could only drag his shot wide of the far post.
Real Betis didn’t heed our offensive warnings as in the 25th minute Dani Rodríguez slipped Oliván in on goal with a clever through ball and the defender calmly placed his shot into the bottom corner to register his first goal for the club.
Chances were few and far between following the game’s opener as we went into the break with a slender advantage.
The visitors started the second half the better side as Sergio Canales came close to levelling matters when he pulled his shot wide of the post in the 53rd minute.
Despite our best efforts to hold on, Juanmi managed to latch onto Nabil Ferkir’s free-kick which Manolo Reina was powerless to prevent from turning into his own goal in the 59th minute.
Take Kubo would make his second debut for the club in the 60th minute, although Fekir would come closest to giving us a late scare when he drove an effort into the near post moments prior.
The was little to seperate the two teams as neither side were able to create anything of note in the final 30 minutes meaning we had to settle for a point upon our return to LaLiga.
