Match report: RCD Mallorca 0-2 Real Sociedad

Goals from David Silva and Mikel Merino see us slip to defeat at the Visit Mallorca Estadi

Goals from David Silva and Mikel Merino either side of half-time saw us suffer a frustrating 2-0 defeat against Real Sociedad.

Luis García Plaza – watching from the stands having received a red card in the 1-0 defeat to Valencia CF - named a largely unchanged side to the one which lost to the Los Ches the week prior.

Brian Oliván returned to defence at the expense of Jaume Costa, while Amath was preferred to Ángel in attack.

The opening exchanges yielded few opportunities for either side as we had to wait until the 27th minute before Antonio Raillo almost gifted us a lead with a clever flick inside the box following a set-piece.

Silva broke the deadlock in the 35th minute when he latched onto a through ball from Merino and found the bottom corner from close range.

The visitors would have a handful of half chances towards the end of the first half, but we headed into the break with it all to play for as rain began to fall upon the island.

Take Kubo came close to levelling matters in the 55th minute when he reacted first to a loose ball in the box, but he could not get his volley on target.

Merino turned from provider to scorer in the 62nd minute when the midfielder fired home from close range following a whipped corner.

Despite our best efforts to get back into the game, we suffered defeat at the Visit Mallorca Estadi.
