We were held to a frustrating goalless draw against Getafe CF at the Visit Mallorca Estadi.
Luis García Plaza made four changes to the side which lost 3-1 to Rayo Vallecano a week ago. Iddrisu Baba returned to the starting XI having served his suspension, while Jaume Costa, Jordi Mboula and Ángel Rodríguez also started as Brian Oliván, Antonio Sánchez, Rodrigo Battaglia and Fer Niño were listed among the substitutes.
Both sides struggled to find their rhythm throughout the opening stages with chances few and far between.
Dani Rodríguez and Kang-In Lee were unable to capitalise on the half chances which fell their way, while Sandro had the visitors’ clearest opportunity when he fired wide of the post.
The first half ended with Manolo Reina and his opposite number David Soria having had very little work to do as torrential rain continued to fall at the Visit Mallorca Estadi.
We were the stronger side after the restart, but with the visitors putting 10 men behind the ball when out of possession, our forward line struggled to break down a resolute defence.
Fans had to wait until the 58th minute before our first shot on target as Dani Rodríguez managed to cut inside and get a shot away, although it was a straightforward save for Soria who didn’t have to move to gather the ball.
The introductions of Abdón Prats and Take Kubo offered us something different in the final third, with the former having the best chance of the game when he rose highest to head inches wide of the far past in the 86th minute.
The final whistle went with the game deadlocked as we had to settle for a point.
