Match Report: Platges de Calvia 1-0 RCD Mallorca B

We suffer defeat in our return to Tercera División after almost three months without a competitive fixture

We were unlucky to lose our first game of the new Tercera División season 1-0 to Platges de Calvia after almost three months without competitive football.

Julián Robles named a starting XI which included players with first-team experience such as Luka Romero, Iván Bravo and Leo Roman. Elsewhere, Oscar Sánchez, Alberto Bernado and Ibrahim Yalatif were handed their debuts.

The opening exchanges yielded little clarity in the final third for either side, and despite our best efforts to create clear opportunities, we headed into the break level.

Reading from the same script as the opening 45 minutes, the second half’s dynamic changed in the 68th minute when Jaime De Las Marinas Gil received his marching orders for a second bookable offence.

Down to 10 men but still pushing for an opener, Borja Gurrionero managed to race behind our defence against the run of the play in the 75th minute and score what would ultimately be the winner.

Two impressive stops from the hosts’ goalkeeper prevented us from finding a late equaliser in the dying moments of the game, leaving us frustrated and looking to bounce back against PE Sant Jordi on Matchday 2 in a week’s time.

RCD Mallorca B: Román, Bravo, González, Sánchez, Bernardo (58’), Jaime De Las Marinas Gil, Coll (81’), Montalbán, Albín (67’), Yalatif, Romero (58)

Substitutes: Martínez (58’), Bryan (58’), Martín (67’), Makate (81’)

Goals: Borja Gurrionero, 1-0, (75’)
