Match Report: Getafe 1-2 RCD Mallorca

A dramatic double salvo in injury time saw us come from a goal behind to end the season in style

Injury time goals from Vedat Muriqi and Pablo Maffeo saw us come from behind to win 2-1 against Getafe and end our season with a victory.

Javier Aguirre rotated his side for the final fixture of the campaign, handing Ivan Cuellar a start in goal while Javi Llarbes and Nacho Vidal were also named in the starting XI.

Mason Greenwood had the game’s first chance when he managed to find space, cut inside and test Cuellar at his near post with six minutes on the clock.

The English forward continued to create problems in the final third and almost found the near post again from a right angle in the 39th minute.

With chances few and far between in the first half, we headed into the break goalless.

Gaston Alvarez gave the hosts the lead two minutes after the restart when he was fed the ball with space and fired into the bottom corner.

Llarbes had one of our first attempts on goal in the 63rd minute when he raced forward and got a strike away, although his effort was tipped wide by a fantastic save.

We pulled level in the 91st minute when Muriqi found himself unmarked at the back post to head home Antonio Raíllo’s initial attempt on goal.

Our complete was complete two minutes later when some quick thinking from a free-kick released Maffeo down the right and gave him enough space to take a touch and find the far corner.

The players and coaching celebrated the comeback together on the touchline in what is Aguirre’s final game as manager as our season came to a close.
