Match report: Atlètic Balears 2 - RCD Mallorca B 1

Today afternoon at Son Malferit Stadium Mallorca B have witnessed how the game slipped through their hands. Small details have been of great importance in the first island derby of the season. Locals have secured these 3 points at home.

The Routh from the group led by Javier Olaizola has been no excuse and the players have been able to defeat Atlètic Balears in the first half when Sergio Cortés scored a superb Olympic game from a direct corner kick. The Academy football has thrown the ball from the corner and has gone in Aulestía’s goal with no-one else touching it before.

Mallorca B have had their chances before the half-time break, and the first half has finished 0-1 in the screens.

The Challenger to keep the favourable score was crucially important to our Academy team. Yet the second half got tougher. The tension was palpable and transferred onto the turf. Locals played rather aggressive, and took advantage from the visitors’ mistakes. In the 73th minute, Atlètic Balears lost a man after Malik saw the second yellow card. But football is unpredictable as we know it. Once Ziege’s team was one man down it is when they have played better. In the 75th minute Jurado levelled for the locals and in the 89th minute, in the very last dealings of the game, Xisco has put the home team ahead in a makeshift come-back from a direct free-kick from right outside the box.

This is the second defeat for our Routh team this season against tough experimented sides in the division. Next week RCD Mallorca B pay visit to Levante Atlético and will have a new occasion to add new points to the table.
