Mallorca 1 - Reus 0 (Cup’s 2nd round)

Mallorca has gone through to round 3 of the King’s Cup after beating by 1-0 Reus Esportiu with a goal from Brandon in the 92th minute, in extra time. For the first time in four years, the team has progressed onto the next round after relegation.

In addition, the victory and the poor position of the Balearic team act as a revenge to Reus, who upset the Reds team on LaLiga 123 Day 1.

Mallorca and Reus took the game with vigour and looked for the opposite goal from the start. This was obvious from the statistic point of view. Both teams forced up to 6 corners in the first 20 minutes in.

The Majorcan outfit scored in the 36th minute through Brandon Thomas, but the referee disallowed the goal because of an earlier offside from Oscar Diaz.

Pol Roige in the 12th minute and Babic in the 15th minute had clear-cut chances to open the score, with great headers from unimprovable position, but went wide.

The best chance in the second half was on Adria Dalmau’s boots. The played loaned by RCD Espanyol, after being subbed in replacing Diaz, in the 77th minute missed an open goal opportunity through a chip shot. His shot went wide by inches.

In the extra-time, Mallorca scored very soon by means of Brandon Thomas (93th minute) and despite Reus’ attempts, the score did not move anymore.
