Luis García Plaza: ‘We’ve reacted really well after their goal’

The boss spoke to the media after our 1-1 draw at La Rosaleda against Malaga CF

Luis García Plaza reflected on our 1-1 draw with Malaga CF at La Rosaleda. Find out what the boss had to say about the performance, Lago Junior’s getting himself back on the scoresheet and promotion hopes:

On the match...

"The first half was very good, they didn't get a shot at our goal, but the first time they attack against us they score a goal. It already happened to us in Castellón and Sabadell and it's a blow. It's a penalty that we have to avoid, but the team's reaction was very good. We scored the goal and had four more chances. We played very well - it's been a while since we had a game like this. We should have won, but I didn't like the second half. We were very flat, we lacked something more.”

On Lago Junior...

"He's been training very well for the last couple of weeks. The season Antonio, Dani and Amath have had has been really good, but I saw him with a lot of confidence, I took a gamble and it worked out well. He could have scored both and he would have been the hero. He is an experienced player and I value that, but above all he played because I saw him more accurate, refined and relaxed, not because of his attitude, which is always good.”

On the final stretch and the team...

"It was time for the team to come back, morally they have removed that burden because they have reacted well. Two matchdays ago we were six points behind and now we are six points behind again. We will evaluate this point after Alcorcón. If we are able to win, we are very close.

"The dressing room always wants to win, they have shown a lot of ambition and that's why we have 72 points. If we beat Alcorcón, we will be in touching distance.”
