Luis García Plaza: ‘We’re among the best and you have to keep adding points’

The manager spoke to journalists at his pre-match press conference ahead of our clash with AD Alcorcón

Luis García Plaza says his side will have to be more ruthless in front of goal ahead of our trip to AD Alcorcón on Monday evening.

Despite the hosts coming into the fixture on the back of three consecutive defeats during a hectic October fixture schedule, the boss believes Los Alfareros still pose a considerable threat.

“They play as a unit and try to do so for the whole game,” he told journalists at his pre-match press conference. “They don’t mind taking the initiative and playing there is always difficult. They are a unit which tries to compete in games and getting hold of the ball will also very important. Winning against these types of teams is always difficult and you have try and make the most of the chances you have.

“These seven games can be put into two blocks: the first three we’ve had to work hard to create chances, but we later got there. We’re creating chances and the goals will come. We’re one of the teams that crosses and gets the most shots in goal in the Segunda Divisiòn. As long as the team creates chances, there’s no anxiety.”

With a kick-off time of 18:00 at the Estadio Municipal de Santo Domingo newly announced earlier on in the build-up to the fixture due to protocol, García reflected on the hosts’ outbreak of COVID-19 and further rotation as games come thick and fast.

“If someone is infected, I hope they recover as quickly as possible,” he continued. “There will also be further chances to the starting-line up to play three games in six days.”
