Luis García Plaza: ‘We weren’t as sharp today’

The boss spoke to the media after our goalless draw against Real Oviedo

Luis García Plaza spoke to journalists at his post-match press conference following our goalless draw against Real Oviedo at the Visit Mallorca Estadi. Find out what the boss had to say about the result, our performance and what’s next.

On the match...

"We have not been sharp. We have the pressure to win most games. There is no more pressure on us than there was before. We were five points behind the leader and there was no pressure. Oviedo was behind and we lacked a little bit of accuracy. We had some chances. They did a great job defensively. If you don't open the scoreboard, the rival grows.”

"It was very difficult. We're not very accurate. The players are not machines and they fail. Now there are going to be many games like this. They're going to be locked in. We have to keep believing in them. It's hard for all of us. We have to keep working. We have 61 points and we have to think about next Monday.”

"Oviedo had a very clear chance. It would have been unfair, but today it was more a lack of accuracy on our part. We have to keep insisting on improving with the same enthusiasm as always. This is going to be a close call until the end. When there is little left, we will see where we are.”

On the matches and the future of the league...

"It is not logical that we play so many matches in a short time and even more so with internationals, with suspensions and so on. It is not easy. The best thing to do is to put those midweek games at another time. If we win, everything will be better. I have a lot of confidence in these players. I said it before we were leaders, this will be decided in the last few days.”
