Luis García Plaza: ‘The win was very important and the team gave it everything’

The boss spoke to the media after our late victory over Girona FC at the Visit Mallorca Estadi

Luis García Plaza was on post-media duties in his press conference shortly after beating Girona FC courtesy of a 92nd-minute strike by Amath Ndiaye. Find out what the boss had to say about leaving it late, the goal and what lies ahead.

On the game...

“There were two parts to the match: in the first half we were very good and played at ease. We only lacked the goal. In the second half they were better. Both for us and for them, the wind had an influence.

"When you beat these teams, you realise what we’re doing means. I'm happy, I'm really happy. If the team has anything, it's what Dani did with that last piece of play. He'll get it or he won't, but the team gives everything. I’m very proud of the players.

"The victory is very important. At half-time the players couldn't believe how the ball hadn't gone in. Today's opponent was very good. They have very good players and a great coach. Girona FC has had to deal with a lot of problems during the season, otherwise they would be higher up."

On the league...

"So far what the top three is not logical. It's something that, I really mean it when I say this, but I didn't think we would have the points we have now. Dani's game is amazing. It's character and believing until the end. In that aspect, we’re a team that knows that we will give everything until the end. The first part is football and the second part is values. Fight, suffer and in the end get the three points."

On what lies ahead...

"Next up are complicated matches. First comes Albacete and then RCD Espanyol and Almería. We have to keep doing things right.”
