Luis García Plaza: ‘The second half was a ten, I’m very proud of the team’

The boss analysed our defeat against CF Fuenlabrada in his post-match press conference

Luis García Plaza was on post-match press conference duties for the final time this year following our 3-2 defeat against CF Fuenlabrada. Find out what the boss had to say about the defeat, the performance and the previous year:

On the game...
“It’s a very strange game. They score two goals from two fouls out wide where there is no danger. When we manage to get level, they score against us right away. The second half was a ten. We had more chances than they had with nine players.  At the break I told them we were going to have our chances. We had to play more directly. The players left everything out there. I thought we were going to draw. I hope that all the things that can happen to us are in this one game. We had enough guts to be in the game.”

On the performance...
"I am very proud of the team. On merit we should have got a draw. Now we need to let the guys get back on their feet and rest. We finished the year in direct promotion spot and we must continue because this will be very long.”

On ending the year...
"If they told me that we would end 2020 with 41 points and in a direct promotion spot, I would not believe it. This team is going to give it everything. The opposition have come up with a team that is going to compete to achieve the objective. As a coach, I feel very proud of them.”

On next year...
"RCD Mallorca is going to be a tough opposition. We will be there and we will fight at the maximum. This is very long and hard. Now it is time to rest and already start to prepare the for Real Oviedo."

On the fans...
"I would like to thank the fans for the convoy they have put together. I wish good health to everyone, we are living in a hard and difficult time.”
