Luis García Plaza: “I’m happy because you always want to get through each round”

The boss shared his thoughts after our 2-1 victory over SD Eibar in the Copa del Rey

Luis García Plaza couldn’t hide his delight as we came from a goal down to beat SD Eibar 2-1 in the Copa del Rey and progress to the quarter-finals. Goals from Josep Gayá and Angel Rodríguez cancelled out Leschuk’s first-half strike.

On the match…

"It was a very even match between two teams with different styles but both hard workers. I'm happy because we always have to go through. We improved in the second half. It's often the success in the penalty area that decides a game and today we were on target.

"It's not the changes. Sometimes it's just being good and things working out for you. We always play the same way and sometimes you are more successful and sometimes less so. We haven't changed anything tactically from the first half to the second. It's true that we were more accurate and played with a greater spark, however.”

On injuries…

"It's not normal what is happening to us with injuries this season. Everyone gets injured, everyone goes down. There's no other way that on Saturday, those who are there, will give their all for the team.”

On Javi Llabrés…

"I think it's good that the youth players are coming through. The day he made his debut in Segovia I didn't like what he produced so much as he was very nervous. Against Barça he was also very nervous and I've already told him: 'Son, play calmly, play like you know that if you're here it's because you have the qualities to be with us'. Today he loosened up. This is the Javi we know.”
