Luis García Plaza: ‘I hope to see the best version of my team’

The boss looked ahead to our clash with Albacete Balonpié in his pre-match press conference

Luis García Plaza says a potentially rotated team will have to be up to the challenge of facing a tough Albacete Balonpié side this Thursday evening.

With new manager Aritz López Garai recording an impressive victory against CE Sabadell in his first game in charge, García has warned we will have to be at our best to ensure the visitors don't pick up where they left off.

“Whenever a team has won 3-0 it’s because they’ve done things well,” he told journalists via a remote press conference. “We have to try and continue along this line of good results with a victory. Changing manager doesn’t change anything, we’re not expecting an easy game.

“We're going to make changes and think about taking players that are 100% and use the bulk of the squad. I hope they will give me a good result and I think it will work. I hope to see the best version of my team: one that is intense, defends well and plays the majority of the game in the opponents’ half. In the last few games we’ve managed to do that."

The latest modification to the Segunda División calendar follows an outbreak of COVID-19 in AD Alcorcón and means we will now travel to Madrid for an 18:00pm kick-off on Monday instead of the originally scheduled 14:00pm start on Sunday.

“First of all, we wish AD Alcorcón a quick recovery to those affected," he continued. "Unfortunately, it’s something that’s gong to happen during season and I hope that there are as little cases as possible. Playing on Monday gives us a bigger margin to recover from the game against Albacete.”
