Javier Aguirre: “We want to start well at home”

The boss gave his thoughts ahead of our hosting of Real Valladolid

Javier Aguirre says he wants to start the new year on the right foot at home ahead of our hosting of Real Valladolid.

Having yet to register a win this year, Aguirre is keen to return to winning ways in front of our fans.

"Valladolid plays very good football,” Javier Aguirre said. “They have people with a lot of quality and they have many offensive mechanisms.

“The truth is that it's going to be a very complicated match because they play with the ball, they work the opponent well, they work the matches well. Pacheta has done a great job. They are a very complicated team, it won't be easy."

Having booked our place in the next round of the Copa Del Rey, the boss is keen for us to continue our good form with some reinforcements.

"After the Copa we are better, stronger. It was not an easy match, it was complicated for us, but we always work better with a victory and in a good state of mind. I think we will see a different image compared to Getafe. They are different rivals, of course, and the matches will be different, but I see the team in good spirits, strengthened.

"Baba comes into the match after overcoming his flu – he has recovered. Martin Valjent has a little discomfort, but it will not prevent him from playing. Both will return to play, although I still have tonight to decide, I will talk to them. I wouldn't say they are one hundred percent, but they are ready to play. They will be called up.

“The pitch is beautiful, we went to train on the 1st of January. People will be looking forward to seeing us. Of course, we are all looking forward to meet again at home.”
