Javier Aguirre: “We need to continue this form at home”

The boss looks ahead to our hosting of Villarreal

Javier Aguirre says we must continue to capitalise on our good home form ahead of our hosting of Villarreal this weekend.

We have not lost at home since October last year having beaten the likes of Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid at the Estadi Mallorca Son Moix and the boss is keen to see this run continue.

"It will be a different Villarreal than the first round,” Aguirre told journalists at his pre-match press conference. “When we went to Villarreal they were in the process of changing their coach. Now it's a different team. They play good football with good individuals.

“The coach has already found the way to play and found players with that style. It is a team that is doing very well. It is true that they are coming from a couple of defeats, but it will be very complicated. It will have nothing to do with the first round.

"While it is true that we have failed away, we have been successful at home. We want to continue to give joy to our fans and continue to score points as soon as possible to be calmer than we are now.

"It is true that we are better with our fans. We are also infinitely grateful to the people who travel. They make themselves felt, but at home it's your place, it's your people, you are more comfortable and you can feel good. We want to continue to take advantage of our home advantage in the following matches.”

Manu Morlanes faces his former side having headed to the island in January and the boss says he has been impressed with his new signing.

"I see him well and looking forward to it,” he added. “He is a very polite guy, one of those who do good to the locker room. He is a ball player, dynamic, with good quality. He's a good signing and he'll be very good for us.”
