Javier Aguirre: “I feel good, but Real Madrid always makes things complicated”

The boss looked ahead to our hosting of Los Blancos this Sunday

Javier Aguirre says his side are up for the challenge of getting a result against Real Madrid this Sunday.

We host Los Blancos having suffered a frustrating defeat to Cadiz the week prior as we look to get back to winning ways with the current league champions.

"Real Madrid is difficult to beat,” Aguirre told journalists at his pre-match press conference. “They have a lot of individual and collective talent. Benzema was the best player in the world last year and is breaking goalscoring records at Madrid. Militão is also a player who has been doing well. I'm not happy at all with people getting injured because we are workmates. It's true that they are two important players, but obviously it's Real Madrid and they will be playing with eleven cracks, with eleven world-class players. It's going to be complicated.

"We have good feelings after the setback in Cádiz. I think we reflected, we looked ourselves in the face and saw what we did wrong and hopefully it won't happen again. I have a good feeling, but Madrid always makes things difficult for you. They are a team that is a favorite at home or away and we will surely suffer, but I have a good feeling.

"The game plan will be to be attentive, especially because when Madrid is attacked, they leave people up top and their transitions are deadly. And well, you can't lose concentration for a second, any player can make a mistake because they have a lot of quality.

“Until before the World Cup our form remarkable, even outstanding, but after the World Cup it has been regular with two wins and three defeats. Therefore, overall, it has been a good season up until now of course.”
