We are all set for our hosting of Real Betis as we welcome fans back to the Visit Mallorca Estadi for the first time this season.
The first phase of the refurbishment project is in its final stretch and the fans in the new East Stand will be able to enjoy the new entry points, seats and, above all, they will closer to the action than ever before.
"The new stands are now ready to host the fans, all of them with new seats,” chief architect Izaskun Larzábal told club media. “The tracks have disappeared, the ball is going to be close to us and we will now watch football from a traditional, close-up seating position. That was the first objective of the project and we have achieved it.
"We also have a very important improvement to the entry points with additional and updated turnstiles. The important thing is that the fans who come on Saturday have that experience of what football is all about, to arrive in better conditions, to feel in a better place, to see it better and that is something that we have ensured for the match. It was very important that the first match could be played and we have achieved that.
"The roof is progressing well. The important thing was to guarantee the work on the lower phase and that is finished. Now we are working on the upper part - today we hoisted two poles support systems up and we are moving at a different pace on the roof alone. In the next game people will have the chance to discover more improvements – soon we will continue with the bottom part of the stand and the second phase.
"I want to thank all the people who have been working this summer, in hot conditions and long hours to reach where we are and all safety measures are guaranteed. Going from paper to reality has many complications, but they have been overcome day by day. We feel that responsibility not to fail.”
