Martin Valjent played 120 minutes of Slovakia’s penalty shootout victory over Ireland in the European Championship qualifier. A tightly-contested affair, the fixture was ultimately decided by the hosts’ winning 4-2 on penalties and will now face a play-off final against Northern Ireland for their place in next summer’s competition.

Aleksandar Trajkovski was a late substitute in North Macedonia’s 2-1 win against Kosovo in their European Championship qualifier. Benjamin Kololli’s own goal gave the hosts the advantage early on, although a long-range effort from Florent Hadergjonaj levelled matters on the stroke of the half-hour mark. The scoreline wouldn’t remain deadlocked for long however, as just four minutes later Krste Velkoski scored the decisive goal to set up a play-off final against Georgia with a place at the European Championships at stake.
