Dani Rodríguez: ‘We’re expecting a very difficult game at CD Lugo’

The winger looked ahead to our trip to Galicia in his pre-match press conference

Dani Rodríguez says he and his team-mates are expecting a tough test away at CD Lugo this Monday evening on Matchday Five of the Segunda División.

Despite missing several key players on international duty, we will travel to Galicia looking to record our third consecutive victory, and according to our midfielder, members of the squad will have to step up and adapt to a tough opposition.

“We know that it will be a different game to the ones we’ve had so far,” he told journalists as a pre-match press conference. “I’m sure that the players which are going to come into the starting XI will contribute a lot.

"It’s going to be a tough game against a team with a direct style of play. We're going to have to adapt quickly. The team has the necessary resources to adapt to this type of game and the quality to make the difference. We must equate the aggressiveness and intensity they put in.”

Our top goalscorer so far this season with goals in back-to-back fixtures, Dani Rodríguez believes he can continue his good form offensively in tandem with a defensive shape which has seen us concede just once in four games.

“I think our defensive work has become fundamental, and not just the back four, but the entire team," he continued. "Everyone’s work makes the job of the defence and goalkeeper easier. If we keep on recording clean sheets, we will have more chances to win games.

"This year we will play a little higher and maybe I can contribute with even more goals. It's never too late to bring new skills to a team."
