Biel Company has met the press after the morning training session and has emphasized that, at personal level, he is very pleased with the new additions to the squad for this season because, as he has pointed out, “apart from being proven footballers with lots of experience, they are as well terrific people. They have adapted very well to the group and help young players a lot”.
The side-back underlines that for the group it is “always a bliss to come back home” and, despite the highly demanding preseasonal sessions under scorching temperatures, he warned that “we have to adapt to any playing circumstances”. He also reminded the press that competition among players is “good because it implies we all have to try harder, to improve every day”. Company has applauded the new arrivals, “whatever means adding value is welcome since the club and players want the best possible team. If someone comes to complement something that we already have fantastic, if no-one else comes before the market closes, we have a balanced squad and can compete with any club”.
The Academy player confirmed that fatigue within the group is a concern, “so far I have been to many preseasons with the first team and this has been the toughest one by a landslide. The coach gives us a lot of stick” although he also recognised that everyday the players are feeling fitter, “we are increasing workload at trainings to be able to cope with higher physical requirements. We are keeping up to date with our action plan. It is very challenging effort-wise and work-wise. Things are done in the right direction. We are building trust”.
Finally, he vowed to give a good impression on Saturday’s game versus West Bromwich Albion, “it is a rival of great level, more prepared. The manager knows that we are fatigued but he is going to request that we put it all out there. We have to leave good sensations and the fans have to see that we are going to spare no effort in the pitch because we want this to be our year”
