Ante Budimir says he and his team-mates still believe they can beat the drop ahead of the penultimate game of the campaign against Granada CF.
While mathematically anything but a win will make survival difficult, the centre forward believes the aim of putting points on the board has been the same throughout the season - even if he expects our final visitors of the campaign at the Visit Mallorca Estadi to pose a tough challenge.
"There’s no doubt from the first day against SD Eibar until the last drop against CA Osasuna, from the first to the last minute, we’ll try to win and we’ll do our best to win,” he told Play Red. “We’re trained to win. This is the only way. Starting from tomorrow and with Granada CF, we know what our goal is. I believe in it. I really believe in us and I believe we will achieve this goal on Thursday.
“We can expect, like every team in La Liga, a quality team. They’re in good form and have their own goals which they are fighting for which are a little different to ours. Still, they’re in a really competitive phase [of the season].
“They play well and have had a good season. We can expect more or less what we normally expect in La Liga games – a hard game, a competitive game, a tough team, but of course, there are things they don’t do so great, so we have our chances. We know that.”
While dependant on other results going our way in order to pull ourselves out of the relegation zone, Budimir has stressed the importance of remaining calm and focusing on our own game.
“We’re doing the stuff the coaches have asked of us throughout the year," he continued. "Doing that, we’ve achieved some great things and we need to do that. We need to be calm and believe in our work. As we’ve shown, especially at the Visit Mallorca Estadi this year many times, we have the capacity to win against the best teams in the world. In terms of myself, I’m thinking what can I do best and what I can do to win.”
