Andy Kohlberg: ‘It is really like a dream come true for both the club and many of the fans’

The president visited the new stadium to see how our renovations are progressing

President Andy Kohlberg has described the latest renovations to the Visit Mallorca Estadi “as a dream” following a recent visit to the stadium.

As work continues on phase one of our redevelopment ahead of this season’s curtain raiser against Athletic Bilbao, Kohlberg says he can’t wait to welcome fans back to the stadium as he visited the works with CEO of Business Alfonso Díaz, Sporting Director Pablo Ortells and architect Izaskun Larzábal.

“I think it is fantastic,” he told club media.  “It is amazing how much has been accomplished in three months.

“The architect and the contractor are doing a fantastic job and I think the fans are going to be really pleased with what they see for the first game with so many seats so close to the pitch. It is really like a dream come true for both the club and many of the fans.

“I think the fans are really excited. The new stadium and renovation are going to be fantastic. Ticket sales are going well and we are really excited for the season to start.”

Before fans get to see the latest work on the stadium, we travel to San Mames for our season opener, and Kohlberg couldn’t hide his excitement.

“I think we will be a very competitive team - I'm looking forward to it,” he continued. “I still think we need to add a few players to the squad, but we have good depth and a good squad.

“We're really looking forward to it. Javier (Aguirre) is doing a great job coaching this group of players. We're really excited and looking forward to this season.

“They're a good rival, a very defensive team. We've got to be very competitive and fight hard. Hopefully we get some points out of the game.”
