188 days later: the return of Íñigo Ruiz de Galarreta

The midfielder returned to action after over six months on the sidelines

Íñigo Ruiz de Galarreta is back.

Our midfielder came on as a late substitute in our 2-0 win against Rayo Vallecano after over six months on the sidelines following a serious knee injury.

"When they sent me to warm up, I tried to warm up quickly and be ready in case it was difficult for me to enter and I was lucky to have a few minutes - I was so happy,” he told club media after the game.

Having torn his knee ligaments against Real Betis on February 20, the Basque player returned to Pamplona for the majority of his rehabilitation before stepping up his progress on the island.

"The day of the match was a big blow because from the first moment I knew what was there, it was something I had experienced before and the sensations were very similar.

"Everyone's support from minute one has been amazing. It has given me a lot of strength. Injuries never come at a good time, although it's true that I was having a lot of fun. It has cost me a lot to get to LaLiga and what I've experienced so far has been amazing.

"Sometimes, getting out of the group dynamic is good for certain things. The team goes out on the field to train and if you're there, you get the weird feeling that you can't go out and train.”

"It was a big blow to injure a teammate who was having a spectacular year,” added captain Antonio Raíllo. “Because of our style of play, Galarreta was very important, the link between the defence and the midfield.”
